Keystone Girls State Applications now available!
Keystone Girls State (KGS) applications have been mailed out to Units and Councils. They have also been added to the Girls State page on this website. They can be found on this link: http://ala.pa-legion.com/programs/program-list/girls-state/.
The KGS Committee is asking that all Units and Council Chairman take these forms to the schools. The search for a potential citizen should be started as early as possible to avoid conflicts with work and education schedules of the girls.
Remember… the “selling point” is the opportunity of the student earning 3 to 4 college credits as a low discounted rate. Most student, parents and schools are looking for secondary learning possibilities while finishing their high school careers.
If a sponsor can not be found for a young lady, please contact the Chairman, Melissa Hrinya or Colleen at Department. A sponsoring Unit will be found for her.
Girls State calendars are still available!
If you haven’t received your 2010 KGS calendar, you still have time to do so. There are a few calendars left. They offer the chance to win over and over again. They make great gifts for for any occasion…Christmas, birthday, anniversary, etc.
It goes to a worthwhile cause…it assists in keeping the costs of the week of Girls State done. This week is extremely instructional in not only governmental but Americanism as well. This weeks encourages young women to be the best citizens they can be. The Girl Stats program lays the foundation for this education.
KGS calendars can be obtained from any Sectional Vice President. You can contact any one of them and they would be happy to help you. The cost is $25.00.
