Jan 9th – A Great Day to Help Homelesss Veterans!
Homelessness among veterans has been the buzz as of late. Government and the public have been trying to figure out how to help. But The American Legion has been helping their fellow comrades since 1988 with several houses across the Commonwealth.
In the 21 years, The Housing for Homeless veterans Corporation has facilitated hundreds of veterans in their journey to become productive citizens. While receiving needed assistance on their road to becoming tax paying citizens, participants build self-esteem and a sense of belonging by keeping house and cooking meals for their housemates and themselves.
The Corporation is responsible for the maintenance and repairs to the buildings, along with any needed remolding. Where do the funds come from? One manner is the annual dinner. On January 9, 2010 in Moon township at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh Airport dinner will be served. For the amount of $25.00 for a great meal, a person can help homeless veterans. Ads for the program booklet can also be purchased.
