No it is not Christmas time but, ….. school is starting!!!  It is never to early to start planning for the future.  Chairman Virginia Lisbon would like the Units to start planning for American Education Week.  It is slated for November 14-20, 2010, the week following Veteran’s Day.  What a better time to reinforce ourselves as an organization than to assist the schools.  The week before we are in the schools explaining the importance of this day, our veterans and the military. How they have all helped us in our time of need and the preservation of our freedoms.  This week would be a grand opportunity to school the children, teachers, staff and administration that veterans and their families are stilling helping.

Please see the flyer pertaining to Education Week.  (Click here for flyer) Some examples of “Give 10 to Education” for school levels- purchase crayons, pencils,pens, erasers, notebooks and calculators.  Then there is the fun stuff: fruit snacks of all shapes and sizes, crackers, 100 calorie packs, juice boxes, etc.  Small word find books, sudoku and crossword puzzle books are also fun and they reinforce learning.  There are many way you can help your education system.  Get in contact with a school, teacher, or guidance counselor, they will be glad to help you with ideas.  Just think back to when you were in school, use that imagination, remember what you liked and needed.  With the financial situation of not only the families but the educational system itself, all would appreciate some help.  And just think, we are promoting our organization and presenting ourselves as an organization that cares and serves.
